Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 26, 2026
This policy explains what personal information AutoVIN Report ("we") collects at autovin.tools, why, and the choices you have.
In short: we collect only what we need to run your account and deliver reports. We don't sell your personal information, and we don't use advertising trackers.
1. Information we collect
- Account details: your name, e-mail address and password. Passwords are stored only in scrambled (hashed) form.
- Vehicle lookups: the VINs you check and the reports you buy, so you can open them again from your History.
- Purchases: the amount, date and PayPal order number. Payment details such as card numbers are handled by PayPal, not by us.
- E-mails you send through the Service: the addresses you send reports to.
- Technical information: your IP address, browser type and basic logs, used to keep the Service secure and to stop abuse.
- Cookies: one cookie that keeps you logged in. Our network provider, Cloudflare, may set a security cookie to block bots. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies.
2. How we use it
- To create your account, confirm your e-mail and let you log in.
- To look up vehicles and deliver reports, PDFs and e-mails you ask for.
- To process payments and keep purchase records.
- To prevent fraud and abuse, and to keep the Service secure.
- To answer your questions, and to meet legal and accounting obligations.
3. Who we share it with
We share information only with service providers that help us run the Service, and only what they need:
- PayPal, to process payments.
- Our vehicle data provider, which receives the VIN you check (not your name or e-mail).
- Resend, to deliver e-mails such as confirmations and reports.
- Cloudflare and our hosting provider, to run and protect the website.
We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect our rights or the safety of others. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
4. How long we keep it
We keep your account information and reports while your account is open. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete it, except for purchase records we must keep for tax, accounting or legal reasons.
5. Your choices and rights
You can ask us to tell you what personal information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it. Depending on where you live, including California and other US states, you may have additional rights under local privacy laws. We won't treat you differently for using these rights. To make a request, e-mail us from the address on your account.
6. Security
We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, and access controls to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data and fix problems quickly.
7. Children
The Service is not meant for anyone under 18, and we don't knowingly collect information from children.
8. Where data is processed
Our servers and service providers may be located outside your state or country. By using the Service, you understand that your information may be processed there.
9. Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. For important changes, we'll let account holders know by e-mail.
